Dear son,

Having noticed that recently you are addicted to your smartphone, so concerned am I that I decide to write you this letter with the aim of helping you out of smartphone addiction.

Though a smartphone can be a highly useful tool, overuse or even addiction to it can be bad for your study, health, and relationships. If you can’t stop yourself from repeatedly checking texts or apps, the smartphone can cause low study efficiency, which has already led to your failure in this exam. What’s worse, according to a latest study, long time on phones will do harm to your eyesight and backbone (脊椎)—nearly three fifths of people suffer from these illnesses. It doesn’t only affect your own life, but is also responsible for your worse relationship with family and friends. For example, recently I just feel the time you spent with us become less and less, which really hurts me. Therefore, it’s time to save you from smartphone addiction.

And here are some suggestions to help you give up smartphone addiction. At the moment, you’d better make a plan. That’s to say, only use your phone at certain times of a day. Don’t give yourself a chance to approach your phone until you finish your homework or other tasks. Besides, it’s a good idea to develop new interests, such as biking, swimming or just jogging, which can help you to forget your phone. Why not asking someone you trust for help? When you are at school, choose a responsible person, such as a teacher or a classmate, to control your use of smartphone.

I hold the belief that you will take my suggestions into serious consideration and find them helpful. It is expected that there would be more quality family time with us. So set a date and take action right now to give up smartphone addiction for your own good.

                                                             Lovingly yours,

Father
